100 not out!

100 years on and old scores were settled on 15th July 2007 in a closely fought cricket match between Lawrence Sheriff parents and boys.  In July 1907 the first cricket match was played between boys and parents, resulting in a sound beating for the dads.  This match led to the formation of the very first Parents' Association in the UK, as recognized by the Guinness Book of Records.  Back to 2007 and the cricket match was the focal point of a fun afternoon organized by the PA.  A 1907 penny was tossed by the Mayor of Rugby, Councillor Sue Peach, who stayed throughout the gripping match to present the cup and medals at the end.  After a jittery start the boys put in a solid performance.  Then the dads struggled to get any real impetus and wickets started tumbling.  However, after a late flurry of fours, in the last over the dads came out on top - restoring the lost honor of a hundred years ago!

PA invited to Buckingham Palace!

LSS PA was invited to a luncheon reception at Buckingham Palace on 13th June 2006 to join in the 50th anniversary celebrations of the NCPTA (National Confederation of Parent Teacher Associations).  we were invited as the oldest parents' association in the country, and our president, Sarah Stuart, traveled down to London with her husband, Joe, who is also an active member of the PA.  Prince Philip hosted the reception and it was great to be able to share experiences with other Parents' Associations...........

PA to provide floating fund for School Enrichment Activities.

The PA is providing a fund of £1,000 to buy equipment for Enrichment Activities.  As amounts are drawn off the fund, we intend to top it back up so that we continue to fund new activities as they start.
