I've finished the AS but I haven't got a grade
- If your AS or A2 has not been cashed in, you will not have an overall
grade. To calculate this:
- Add all 3 paper (UMS) marks together (or 6 papers
for A2)
- Check your score against the table below which shows
minimum scores for each grade:

- You will need to ‘cash in’ the grade before you formally
gain the award and get a certificate.
- If you still don’t understand your results slip please come
to the Exams Office so we can explain it to you and check for any abnormalities.
I didn't do as well as I expected in one paper
- Talk to your subject teacher
If you are unhappy with a module result the first thing to do is to try and talk to your subject teacher to see if they agree you have under performed. They may recommend you get a photocopy of your script. If the subject teacher is unavailable try and talk to a suitable member of staff.
- If it was an Edexcel exam then have a look at Edexcel’s Results Plus to gain more information about how you did.
- You can ask at the Exams Office for a photocopy of your exam script only until 24th August 2007. You will have to pay £10 in advance. They will send you the photocopy in time for you (with advice from your subject teacher) to decide whether it is worth paying for a re-mark.
- You can ask for a re-mark (deadline 20th September 2007).
This is expensive (c£40 a paper, although the money is refunded if the grade is changed). If you pay for a re-mark the new grade may be higher, the same, or lower than the initial grade. Be warned!
I would like a photocopy of my script
- You can get a photocopy of your script from a GCE paper (but not GCSE).
This will allow you to learn from your mistakes and will allow you to
make an informed decision as to whether it is worth paying for a re-mark.
- If you want a photocopy please fill in the form below and bring it,
with the correct money (Cheques made payable to Lawrence Sheriff School)
to the Exams Office as soon as possible.
- Cost £10
- To download an application form for a photocopy, click below:

I would like a GCE paper re-marked
- Unless you need a priority re-mark to secure a university place,
do not pay for a re-mark straight away, but get a photocopy of the script
first. See I would like a photocopy of my script.
- If you want a less urgent re-mark there are a range of options (e.g.
clerical check, re-mark, re-mark with photocopy). These are explained
on the re-mark form available below:
Candidate

- Re-marks cost around £40 and must be requested by 20th September 2007
I have finished an AS or A2 and want to cash the
grade in
- If you are certain that you do not want to retake any modules of the
qualification you should cash the subject in and receive the certificate
in due course.
- Cashing in is free, providing you do it before the season deadline.
- We cash all A2s in for Year 13s, automatically.
- We do not cash in AS grades for boys unless asked to do so. If you
give up a subject before completing an A2 you must remember to cash
the AS in or you will not formally receive the qualification.
- RHS has different rules for AS cash ins. If you take subjects there
check that you know the differences between the two schools.

here to download the cash-in form.
When do I get my certificates?
- If you took GCSEs, or an AS or A2 that was cashed in before the summer
your certificates should arrive in school in October.
- If you don’t cash an AS or A2 in until after the summer results
come out, the certificate will be cashed in for the January season and
the certificate will arrive in Mayl. If you need a certificate sooner
than this you can pay for a late cash in for the summer season up until
around 20 September. See the Exams Office for more details.
If you are still in school when your certificates arrive you will be
asked to sign for them in school.
If you will have left by the time the certificates arrive in school
then you will have been asked to give permission to have your certificates
posted home to you. If you have not given permission the certificates
will be held in the Exams Office indefinitely for you to collect.
I know what mark I got but I don't know what the
exam was marked out of
Not all exams are marked out of 100. To work out your grade in an exam
from the mark awarded please check to see the max mark achievable in the
exam and compare it with the grade boundaries shown here.
ASs are marked out of 300 and A2s from 600.
My AS (or A2) has been cashed in but I want to resit a module.
If you have not achieved the grade you want at AS or A2 but the subject has been cashed in then you will need to decline the grade by 20 September and re-sit at least one module at a later date. Think very carefully about whether you really have the motivation to improve on your grade. If you are convinced that you have, then please complete the Declining a Grade form, and bring it to the Exams office.
